KEYS ULTRA WEATHER FORECASTS

This morning I received an e-mail update from Keys Ultra race director Bob Becker (who will also be running Badwater this year). In it was the following quote:

"Weather: the past few days have seen a shift to summer-like weather-temperatures in the high 80's and humid. Be prepared for the heat and the intense sun by wearing a hat and sunscreen, and consider long sleeve clothing during the day. Also, bring bandanas or buffs with you, put ice in them and wear them on your neck and under your hat to help manage the heat."

So looks like I may get some good Badwater heat training there afterall. Still, doesn't sound as bad as the Sunmart 50 (85 degrees and 95% humidity), but at twice the distance the following weather.com forecasts should still be challenging:

Key Largo daytime high of 87 on race start Saturday with high of 69% humidity (night 72 / 78%) with a high of 84 on Sunday. Both days will also have scattered thunderstorms (will cool me down, but will not dry off a lot due to humidity).

Marathon Key (about 1/2 way through the course...pretty cool that its on an island called Marathon)on Saturday 88 /64%.

The finish line at Key west is a high of 83 humidity 68 (day
- night is 77 high/73 %) on Sunday with scattered thunderstorms.

Good luck at Keys, Alan.
It's supposed to be hot here as well, they predict 92 degrees in Reno for Silver State -- I'll be thinking of you!
